Junior Achievement is committed to the educational and motivational impact of relevant, hands-on learning for middle and high school students. We recognize the need for greater STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) education and career-readiness programs and strive to be a top resource to youth. JA has partnered with the Alcoa Foundation to create JA Assembling Your Career - a global curriculum that will bring greater STEM education to middle and high school students. This alliance - formed by both organizations' passion for building the next generation's leaders - encourages students to think about how their current skills and intrests will serve them in future high-growth, high-demand careers.
The Guide for Volunteers and Teachers and the online tools provide practical information about STEM careers and ways for students to prepare for these high-demand careers while still in school.
Following participation in the supplement, students will be able to:
• Articulate why STEM careers and STEM skills are important to their futures, regardless of where they live now or where they choose to live as an adult.
• Identify two-three STEM fields that they wish to explore beyond these activities.
• Chart a path to get them from where they are now to a STEM career.
JA of the Heartland gratefully acknowledges the Alcoa Foundation for selecting us as a launch site for JA Assembling Your Career.
