While JA programming has looked different this year, we are appreciative of teachers that have welcomed Junior Achievement into their classrooms. Also, thanks to our JA volunteers who have participated either by “beaming in” (see photo), pre-recording video lessons, recording their JA Career Speakers series story or, in some cases, face-to-face visits. While COVID has caused many things to change, your commitment to JA has not waivered. We join JA students in thanking you and look forward to next year!

A Job Podcast for Young People

A Real Piece of Work: The Job Podcast for Young People features real people sharing real stories on how they found their passion and navigated their path to career success. Hosts Matt Rebro and Melissa Pepper dig into personal and professional choices that led each featured guest to where they are today. The podcast introduces teens to careers they may or may not be familiar with and provides tips on finding the right career for them. Check out the series wherever you listen to podcasts.
 

JA Inspire Virtual Career Fair

Students in grades 7-12 have the opportunity to participate in the JA Inspire Virtual Career Fair until Thursday, June 3rd. The virtual career fair features a self-guided curriculum, career assessment and business, trades and education institution booths with each including downloadable career information and exhibitor videos. Drs. David & Agnes Palmer JA Titan® Virtual Competition

High school students from our 24-county area participated in the Drs. David & Agnes Palmer JA Titan Virtual Competition on Tuesday, April 20th. Competing virtually, students took on the role of corporate business leaders making decisions that affect the profitability and sustainability of their virtual company. With scholarship funding provided by Vickie Anne Palmer, Mediapolis High School teams came out on top with students from Team 1 winning $1,000 scholarships, students from Team 3 receiving $750 scholarships and students from Team 2 awarded $250 scholarships. Central DeWitt High School Team 2 was the winner of the Consolation bracket with each team member receiving a gift card. Special thanks to all participating high schools!

JA BizTown® Café Gets a New Look!

Students at JA World will enjoy new tables, chairs, booths, and restaurant décor items in the Café thanks to Jersey Mike’s. We can’t wait for students to return to JA World next school year and know they will join us in thanking Jersey Mike’s for their ongoing support of JA! 

JA Hosts Virtual Summit

CNBC, Acorns, and Junior Achievement brought together teens from across the country with a panel of experts for a live, virtual forum to discuss leveling the financial playing field in America. Watch Bettendorf High School student, Tiffany Le, represent JA of the Heartland. Achievement. Help young people in our community gain the knowledge and skills they need to have a brighter future.
